Paperless Cockpit was founded in 1995 to provide pilots with a compact, error free method of calculating performance data. Pilot-owned and operated, the company's founders recognized the potential for information technology to maximize aircraft and flight operations management. By developing code to the strict safety standards defined by the RTCA and DO-178 Level D, Paperless Cockpit delivered precise performance data for light jets and helicopters on a low-cost, palm-top device.
The need for affordable aviation information technology solutions became more apparent as new advances in portable computing devices entered the market. While palmtop units were ideal for the cockpit, they did not compare to the power and software offerings of laptop computers.
In 2000, Paperless Cockpit introduced its new line of aviation information technology solutions. Combining the power of handheld tablet PCs with the accuracy and ease of electronic charting software, the company created a true Electronic Flight Bag. Pilots could manage approach plates, manuals and checklists on a single device that was smaller than a chart book and weighed less than three pounds.
Working closely with the FAA, aircraft manufactures, owners, and pilots, Paperless Cockpit continues to deliver innovative, cost-effective aviation information technology solutions.
